Friend of the Red Cross

Under the motto: “It’s better to invest upfront as a friend than to act afterward,” Schoonkantoor became a Friend of the Red Cross this month. Alongside the Dutch Heart Foundation and The Ocean Cleanup, this is the third organization we’ve financially supported. It goes without saying that the Red Cross does excellent work.

Sustainable and Corporate Social Responsibility
As a friend of the Red Cross, we are part of a growing network of committed businesses that prioritize corporate social responsibility. Together with the Red Cross and other businesses, we help people in need, but we also invest in sustainable solutions to better prepare vulnerable communities for disasters. This aligns perfectly with our mission of sustainable business.

With the Red Cross we take action before a disaster occurs
Besides providing first aid during disasters around the world, the Red Cross also promotes preventative measures. Take the Philippines, for example, where people are affected almost annually by natural disasters such as typhoons and monsoon rains. With Red Cross support, mangroves are being planted there, among other things, to protect the coast from storms. This can prevent significant damage and suffering. A team also collects data to improve the prediction of (natural) disasters, such as extreme drought.

Emergency food aid in the Netherlands

Unfortunately, even in the Netherlands, a meal isn’t a given for everyone. More and more people are skipping meals because they can’t afford groceries. That’s why the Red Cross offers emergency food aid to people who can’t find help from other organizations. Together with local partners who know the neighborhood well, the Red Cross distributes breakfast bags and grocery shopping cards.
Doing good for others and investing in the future is important to us. Through our partnership with the Red Cross, we contribute to this!

FIRST AID
The Red Cross is the expert in first aid. Accidents can happen easily, even in the workplace. If a workplace accident occurs or a colleague becomes unwell, it’s crucial to have well-trained first responders on hand. They can make all the difference in acute emergencies like a heart attack. That’s why taking a first aid course is essential and a sound investment. The Red Cross offers special first aid courses for companies, and we will certainly take advantage of this. A comprehensive Red Cross first aid kit is already available at our office.
